Description: A unique experience in Patagonia, consisting of a gastronomic proposal that invites you to discover and experiment with the flavors, while touring historical periods represented in 3 gastronomic times:

First time

Origin Selknam (5000 BC)

A dish inspired by the food of these first inhabitants of Tierra del Fuego.

Second time

Cultural Shock (1557 AD)

The Spaniards arrive at the Strait of Magellan and begin to interact with the Selknam of the Island. An interpretation of how cultures begin to mix from the food.

Third time

Mestizaje of Cultures

Advanced the time, arrive to the island the “Criollos” from the center-south of Chile and they contribute with more flavors to our gastronomic proposal.

The food is accompanied by an Ethnic Dance, inspired by the Selknam people, a millenary culture full of myths and ceremonies. Where its show the history and mythology of the way of a young KLOKETEN that has to surpass diverse tests to become a man of Clan in the well-known ceremony of HAIN.

(PNT201) HALF DAY TOUR TO MYLODON CAVE  

Duration: 3 hours approx.

Available: All year.

Operates: Daily.

Description: Mylodon Cave is 26 km (16 mi.) north of Puerto Natales. It consists of a 129 ha (318 ac) Natural Monument formed by a  30m (98 ft.) high and 200 m (656 ft.) deep cave, with other smaller structures. It forms part of a rocky formation called “Silla del Diablo”. Scientific interest in the site is due to the discovery in 1896 of the skin, bone, hair and droppings of the Mylodon, a giant ground sloth that probably was extinguished in the Pleistocene era. Visit of the area and free time for taking pictures. End of excursion and return to Puerto Natales.

Description: The route begins in Puerto Natales driving out to Torres del Paine National Park. Spanning more than 242,242 ha (598,593 ac) this nature wonderland was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1978. A drive along the park will reveal the impressive Andean massif, with its horned peaks that impact all visitors alike. The area is surrounded by glaciers (Grey), waterfalls, lagoons and lakes (Pehoe) that together with the wide-ranging flora and fauna turn this park into one of the wonders of the world for its beauty and natural scenery. Taking the road back to Puerto Natales, a second important visit is made, this time to the Mylodon Cave, a Natural Monument where the remains of a prehistoric animal were discovered. Visit of the area and return to Puerto Natales.

(PNT303) FULL DAY TOUR TO PERITO MORENO GLACIER

Duration : 16 hours approx.

Description: Early departure from Puerto Natales to Calafate, in Argentina, located 80 km (49.7 mi.) from Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. Once in the city, there is time for a meal before continuing on to Perito Moreno Glacier, that is reached after 1 ½ hour of hiking. When reaching the 5 km (3 mi.) long glacier with an altitude of 60 m (196 ft.), there will be a 2 ½ hour break to admire its beauty and walk along the area’s trails. Return to Calafate, where visitors will have ½ hour for shopping. Return trip to Puerto Natales, arriving back at around 11:00 pm.  


(PNT415) S.I.B. FULL DAY TOUR TO SERRANO & BALMACEDA GLACIERS, INCLUDES LUNCH & TRANSFERS

Duration: 10 hours approx.

Operation: From 01 October to 31 March every year. Daily departures. The rest of the year, confirmed sailing is on Sundays, as well as one, two or three days a week, based on demand. 

Description: Departure time is at 07:30 a.m. heading to the pier of Puerto Bories and boating through Ultima Esperanza fiord, a breathtaking trip with views of Mount Balmaceda, beautiful mountains, waterfalls, cattle ranches and Patagonian avifauna. A bit before midday, the boat nears the Serrano Glacier, an impressive snowdrift that can be walked on amid ice caves, admiring the sparkling rays of the sun glinting off the transparent blue ice.

Around 01:00 pm, arrival to the Estancia Perales tourist complex, one of the most beautiful cattle ranches in Patagonia, to enjoy a lamb barbeque, carbonada (stew), chicken, potatoes, salads, dessert, wine or soft drink. After lunch, return to Puerto Natales.


(PNT416) S.I.B. FULL DAY BOAT TOUR TO SERRANO & BALMACEDA AND ZODIAC UP-RIVER NAVIGATION TO PAINE (INCLUDES TRANSFERS)

Description: On this tour, visitors are invited to participate in a “nautical route” that will go through some beautiful sites in Chile’s extreme south. The first part of the boat trip offers beautiful views of mountains, cascades and Patagonian avifauna until reaching Puerto Toro. From here, a trek leads to the base of the Serrano Glacier, with an impressive ice lake that can be walked on amid its ice caves, admiring the sparkling rays of the sun glinting off the transparent blue ice.

A wonderful Patagonia lunch waits in Hosteria Monte Balmaceda to later continue with a boat ride along Rio Serrano, heading to Torres del Paine National Park. The Paine Massif can be viewed on the way, as well as the abundant flora and fauna of the area. The trip ends at about 04:00 pm, landing at the pier of Hotel del Paine, located in the Pueblito del Serrano sector in Torres del Paine.

Description: The trip starts out at 08:00 am at the EPA pier at Puerto Natales, in the Seno de Ultima Esperanza. Passengers get on board the “Agunsa Tonina” long-boat for a sail to Puerto Bories and Guanaco Island, renowned for sightings of dolphins, toninas (Chilean dolphin) and sea lions lazing on the rocks. The trip continues through the nature wonderland of Estancia Margot to the Cormorant Cliff, where a large number of birds will be stretching their wings and exposing them to the wind.  

The next stop is at Puerto Toro, for a visit of Balmaceda Glacier and after a hike, visitors will reach Serrano Glacier, both on Mount Balmaceda. Here a snack and a glass of whisky with ice cubes taken from the nearby 1,000-year-old ice packs are enjoyed. Leaving Puerto Toro behind, the boat ride ventures on to the journey’s last destination: the Eberhaard Fjord, where a short hike can be done through Puerto Consuelo ranch, founded in 1893. A delicious Magellan lamb on the spit or barbecue, typical of the region, will be waiting. After this hearty meal, a boat trip heads back to Puerto Natales, arriving there at 06:00 pm.

Description: The trip starts out at 08:00 am at the EPA pier at Puerto Natales, in the Ultima Esperanza fiord. Passengers get on board the “Agunsa Tonina” long-boat for a sail to Puerto Bories and Guanaco Island, renowned for sightings of dolphins, toninas (Chilean dolphin) and sea lions lazing on the rocks. The trip continues through the nature wonderland of Estancia Margot to the Cormorant Cliff, where a large number of birds will be stretching their wings and exposing them to the wind.  

The next stop is at Puerto Toro, for a visit of Balmaceda Glacier and after a hike, visitors will reach Serrano Glacier, both on Mount Balmaceda. After the walk, the zodiac guide will provide safety instructions, information on the route and hand over life-vests to each passenger, a perfect complement for this outdoor adventure in Patagonia. Once geared up, the cruise on these rigid-hulled inflatable boats begins. Zodiacs have comfortable individual seats to navigate the Serrano upriver on a 40 km (249 mi.) trip that links the fiord of Ultima Esperanza with Torres del Paine. The river is fed by the meltdown of the Grey, Tyndall, Geike and Balmaceda glaciers.

During the cruise, the first stop is to enjoy the wonderful views of the Tyndall glacier that forms part of Campos de Hielo Sur (Southern Ice Field and is rapidly receding. Next follows a visit of the fall, with a 15-minute hike for a change of zodiac boats and to continue with the excursion. On the way, there will be a chance to go by the Cerro Donoso lookout and view the water flowing in the sector near the falls.

Having boarded the new zodiac, the boat trip continues, traversing the awesome landscape of the eighth wonder of the world until reaching Puerto Chaiten in the Serrano area, where the excursion ends with a delicious typical lunch of the region at a quincho (BBQ area) meters away from the alighting point.

Description: The route begins in Puerto Natales -a city in Chile’s Patagonia region- with a 112 km (69.5 mi.) drive to Torres del Paine National Park, one of the country’s most important parks. Spanning more than 242,242 ha (598,593 ac) this nature wonderland was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1978 and named the eighth wonder of the world in 2013. A drive along the park will reveal the impressive Andean massif, waterfalls, lagoons, lakes and glaciers. Among the latter, Pehoe glacier stands out as the largest in the park, formed by a 6 km (3.7 mi.) wide and 30 m (98.4 ft.) high ice pack.  On the return trip, a second important visit is made, this time to the Mylodon Cave, a Natural Monument where the remains of a prehistoric giant ground sloth were discovered. A life size replica of the creature stands at the entrance. Several caves are accessible for a visit. Return to Puerto Natales.
